Social Security recipients will receive a 2% increase in their benefit in 2018. This benefit will affect more than 61 million Social Security beneficiaries and 8 million Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries. The increase is tied to the Consumer Price Index as determined by the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.
